Controlling The Self
We spend better part of our life controlling others, forgetting that we have someone so close to us who needs to be controlled. Control over outer world may give us false feeling that we are powerful but control over self gives the real inner strength. When we try to control others, we come across rejection & resistance but when we control the self we experience love & harmony. Controlling others demand subjugation; controlling self means acceptance.
Another notable fact is that control over others is dependent on external factors, therefore is transient. Control over self is permanent as it is not dependent on any external source. This is why there is much struggle in controlling others. It is not about winning hearts, it is about winning people, anyhow. And when people fail to defeat others, they themselves feel defeated.
Controlling self is win-win; controlling others is lose-lose because it might seem that you have won over them with power or money, but the fact remains that they be with you only for some time & desert you as soon as the factor controlling them goes away. Another interesting fact is that once you control the self, other controls will appear so hollow that you would not like to exercise these. You feel the world within you & don't feel the need to win anything & anyone.
